Masterdor launches high performance 0.9 Thermal door

Share

Industry leading manufacturer of bespoke, external door sets, Masterdor, has launched its first Thermal door with a u-value of 0.9 W/m2K. Utilising a combination of materials with exceptional thermal performance, the 0.9 Thermal door is the Litchfield Group’s latest solution to the stringent standards of Passivhaus and the Code for Sustainable Homes, and initiatives such as the Green Deal. The 0.9 Thermal door features thermally efficient materials that achieve the lowest u-value on the market for a complete door set.  With a solid timber encasement delivering the solidity, security and elegance of a timber door, the door benefits from the added thermal advantages of a high performance, insulating foam core made from CFC and HCFC free Polyisocyanurate (PIR), and has an ozone depletion potential of zero. The foam core significantly reduces the rate with which heat is conducted through the door, enhancing the door’s thermal performance and improving the u-value of the system.

A Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) layer on the door provides exceptional weather resistance, and is three times thicker than the skin on a standard GRP door. A specially developed, vacuum-applied ASA thermoplastic film is used for maximum weather resistance, creating a long lasting, flawless finish, without the need for painting and gives long-term colour stability.

The energy efficient door sets also benefit from the thermal performance of Masterdor’s sister brand, Sheerfame. The outer doorframe is made from a high quality, five-chambered Sheerframe PVC profile, reinforced by Sheerframe’s Thermlock technology, which delivers superior thermal properties compared with traditional reinforcements. The profiles are made using lead-free organic stabilisers, and are fully recyclable.

The thermal properties of the door set are further enhanced by its exceptional airtightness. With a maximum Exposure Category rating of 800 Special, the doors are fully airtight, thereby preventing heat loss by air leakage.

The 0.9 Thermal Composite door has exceptional strength and durability and is Secured by Design approved.

Bespoke manufactured to any specified dimensions, the 0.9 Thermal Composite door is available in over 100 classic and contemporary styles, in a wide variety of colours.

The Litchfield Group, based in Derbyshire, manufactures a range of energy efficient building envelope products, including Sheerframe high performance PVC windows, doors and conservatories, Masterdor bespoke doors, and the ICF Tech insulated, structural wall and basement  system.
