A former jazz club is once again making noise in London thanks to being beautifully restored and converted into a luxurious hotel. Oozing a contemporary, art deco style, whilst injecting 1920s glamour, The Wellesley has ensured that whilst it may have that roaring twenties feel, its flooring will remain silent and secure thanks to Schlüter-Systems.
Opening in December 2012 following a lavish 12 month refurbishment, The Wellesley boasts the highest quality, uncompromising service and contemporary touches all within one of London’s most prestigious locations – Knightsbridge. So, with such style and quality being invested within the hotel, Contractor, Henry Alger, from Associated Stone Group knew there was only one name to specify when it came to protecting the acoustic flooring.
Henry comments, “This project was all about style, flair and quality, with each installation in need of highly reliable products to guarantee durability and longevity. So, when it came to the acoustic flooring within all 36 bedroom ensuites, I immediately specified Schlüter®-DITRA-SOUND.
Thanks to being made of a heavy polyethylene mat it not only reduces the impact sound in airborne noise by 50% (13 dB test values according to DIN EN ISO 140-8), but it also provides durability thanks to its anchoring fleece which is laminated on both sides to bond with tile adhesive. This means that cracks and debonding is prevented.
Having used Schlüter-Systems products in the past, I was confident in this installation at the hotel and I wasn’t disappointed.
