COMPAC’s Technological Marble specified for the Zorlu Centre- Istanbul

Share

The Zorlu Centre in Istanbul, designed by architectural practices Emre Arolat and Tabanlıoglu consists of a mixed use development extending over an area approximately 620,000m2.

This impressive project includes: a 96,500 m2 shopping centre, a five-star hotel with 130 rooms, apartments, office spaces and a culture and art centre.

Compac’s high performance, technological marble in Beige Faraya was specified for the building’s external facades which covered an area of 85,000m2 and over 12,000m2 was specified for internal flooring and wall cladding.

The result was a stunning, cool contemporary look which perfectly complemented the design requirements of the project.

COMPAC’s technological marble is an advanced composite product, containing 93% natural marble. Resins and other binders are added, so that, through an advanced technological process known as “Engineered Stone”, an improved product is achieved bettering natural stone while maintaining its essence but substantially enhancing its functional properties and decorative possibilities.

This innovative product has hardness similar to natural stone, however its resistance to impact and breakage is much greater. It is lighter and therefore easier to transport, handle and fabricate. Its porosity is practically zero, and therefore absorption of water and other liquids is minimal.

Unlike natural stone, COMPAC’s technological marble is uniform, and can be fitted to large surfaces as specified for the Zorlu project, without breaks or differences in colour tone being noticeable.

COMPAC offer an exciting palette of technological marble colours in a range of sizes.
