Cembrit cladding has been chosen as part of a new residential housing development at Edwin Court in South Sea, Portsmouth. The development consists of mixed tenure apartments and is situated next to Fratton Park, just a mile from the centre of Portsmouth.

A total of 1200m² of cladding was used in the project. Built by Guiness Homes, the cladding was supplied by Realstone Facades of Chesterfield, Derbyshire and installed by developer, Sellars Property Group.

“We are pleased with what has been achieved with Cembrit cladding on this project,” says John Nolan of Realstone Facades Ltd. “The products have delivered a modern look and alongside the stylish appearance we also have the added security of knowing that the cladding will last through the years and remain looking fresh and new.”

Realstone Facades specialises in providing light weight rainscreen cladding for a variety of applications. Their knowledge of cladding finishes extends to how each material can be designed to integrate with the overall building design. Realstone employed Cembrit cladding to meet the environmental demands as well as produce a successful project both aesthetically and structurally.

Cembrit offers a wide range of natural and man-made roofing slate, cladding panels and corrugated sheet. Quality levels at group factories are rigorously maintained to high standards with many products manufactured under the control of ISO 9001 and British Board of Agrément. Cembrit UK is a member of Cembrit Holding A/S (formerly the Dansk Eternit Holding A/S) of Denmark, one of Europe’s major building material producers of fibre reinforced cement products for the roofing and cladding industry. The ultimate parent company FL Smith recently celebrated its 125 year anniversary. Cembrit’s fibre cement roofing and cladding products have also been awarded certification by Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
