eikonic material richness, without the usual compromise

Share

Commercial interiors are being asked to work harder than ever. They need to carry brand character, create atmosphere and stand up to daily use, all while remaining realistic on cost, programme and maintenance. For architects and interior designers, that creates a familiar challenge: how do you hold on to material richness once a scheme meets commercial reality?

That is where eikonic™ feels particularly timely. Its appeal starts with the wall plane itself. The system brings texture, rhythm and a more architectural sense of finish, using ceramic inspired surface language, precisely milled 3 mm grout lines and a carefully balanced interplay of colour, layout and shadow. The current etch range offers six colours, six tile compositions and three grout colours, giving specifiers enough scope to move from quiet restraint to something more expressive and brand led.

The bathroom consists of a bathtub and a wall frame.

What makes eikonic™ interesting, though, is that it is not only about appearance. The product is engineered as a 2.5 mm PVC-U wall sheet and positioned for speed of installation, resilience in use and low maintenance over its lifecycle. It is described by eikonic™ as non-porous, impact tough and lightweight, and it is EN 13501-1 B-s3, d0 rated. That combination matters. In hospitality, leisure, retail and other high traffic settings, the best material choices are rarely the most decorative ones alone. They are the ones that keep the design idea intact while still answering the practical brief.

It also sits neatly within Novograf’s three pillar approach: Refresh, Create and Graphics. Refresh renews existing spaces, Create gives ideas physical expression and Graphics adds brand and spatial communication. As a key part of Create, eikonic™ helps bring design intent to life, while also supporting wider refresh and branded interior schemes.

That broader relevance is important. More commercial projects are now focused on reworking and repositioning existing environments rather than starting again. In that context, surface systems that can deliver visual impact without the usual weight, disruption or installation burden become much more valuable. eikonic™ speaks directly to that shift. It gives designers a way to introduce tactility, identity and finish quality into a space without losing sight of programme realities. eikonic™ has also been presented in recent Novograf product messaging as having “a more sustainable core”, which adds another layer of relevance for teams trying to align design ambition with broader environmental goals.

Perhaps that is the real attraction. eikonic™ does not ask designers to choose between visual character and commercial sense. It sits in the space between the two, helping ideas survive the journey from concept board to built environment with more of their integrity intact.

For specifiers who want to explore the system further, the eikonic™ website www.eikonic.co.uk includes brochure and specification downloads, technical documentation and the option to request a sample.
