Just as Ecobuild 2013 opened FAKRO GB was able to announce the award of a Passive House certificate for its quadruple-glazed FTT U8 Thermo roof window. With a U-value of 0.58W/m2K the FTT U8 offers by far the best thermal performance to date in a standard roof window.Managing Director Noel Shanahan commented, “Fakro has developed a reputation for innovation over the past decade but Passive House certification is the clearest illustration yet of the development work which goes into our products. The momentum in favour of quality in the roof window sector is gaining pace and we believe that Fakro is setting the standard for quality. This is the first example of a roof window achieving such certification and provides clear endorsement for architects seeking to design airtight homes.”
The FTT U8 also offers added user benefits such as a raised pivot point and topSafe® anti-burglary protection. With its operating handle in the base of the sash the frame is sleek, with corresponding benefit to the size of the glazing area. Other features include warm spacers to minimize risk of thermal bridging and use of the latest timber lamination techniques. As with all FAKRO windows, the timber is double vacuum treated and given a 3-coat matt lacquer finish to retain its appearance for years to come.
