Estádio Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro, will enhance the view from its stands and create more space for fans, using Q-railing’s glass handrail systems, in preparation for major upcoming sporting events.
The legendary stadium will use the Easy Glass® Slim, Easy Glass® 3kN, and glass clamp systems to fulfill its visual and safety aims, during renovations for: the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013, World Cup 2014; and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016.
SerplacRio, a large Rio de Janeiro construction company, is responsible for the installation of all Q-railing systems in various rings and lodges. Martin Mittelstaedt, Business Development Manager at Q-railing said:
“We’re honoured and excited to be involved with the Maracanã’s renovations. As well as the obvious visual benefits of transparency in the stands, our glass systems will promote a clean, modern design, without losing the key safety aspect of railings.”
Thousands of excited fans will be protected by Easy Glass® 3kN, which can cope with up to 3 Kilonewton loads and meets the highest safety standards.
SerplacRio will see easier installation and manoeuvring, thanks to the light weight profile of Easy Glass® Slim, used for fascia and top mounting, combined with a Safety Wedge system, which is designed for fast set-up.
