Sail Shades Direct

I have personally been working with fabrics as sailmaker / covermaker since I left school aged 17, the academic route just wasn’t for me. I wanted to be outside working, creating things and dealing with people. (Much to my mum’s horror being a teacher). I have worked all over the Southwest and internationally being lucky enough to experience sailmaking in both Asia and Europe. All in all I have spent nearly 15 years working with fabrics so I can offer a huge wealth of experience.

Our mission is to deliver both bespoke and standard shading solutions for the commercial and residential customer.

In 2017 we were lucky to be approached by a family run Italian company called Giulio Barbieri. They offer a range of both fixed and retractable solutions for outside spaces. Since 1990 the company based in Northern Italy has been developing systems for your gardens. I have visited the factory several times and we are always working very closely together to create new solutions or improve on existing designs specifically for the UK climate.

We are able to offer from their range retractable sail shaped sun shades through to fabric roof conservatries. The costs are considerably less than a traditional glass conservatoire and are much less intrusive to install. All of the frames come with a 5 year warranty.

Whilst we now install lots of these systems living and working in the UK often throws up some unique and awkward areas that a client is trying to either shade or keep dry. We build all of our own sail shades in our small production loft just outside Plymouth. As we are specialists on bespoke solutions we love a challenge, from the town house court yards of Totnes to the really exposed balconies of London we will look at any job, big or small.

We can cover the whole of the UK  and will also look at larger projects further afield.
