SBID International Design Awards 2014: Finalists Revealed!

Share

Interface have been shortlisted in the Contract Product category of this year’s SBID International Design Awards.

The Human Nature collection has been selected as one of the qualifying projects by a technical panel of judges in the first stage of the process. The public are now invited to cast their votes for their favourite entries at www.sbidawards.com, as their votes will be counted towards the overall results.

Human Nature, the latest global collection from Interface, has been created to allow designers to explore the effect interiors have on human behaviour, frame of mind, creativity and productivity. The collection builds on the innate connection humans have to the earth and nature, and allows designers to explore the effect mimicking natural designs has on the human psyche.

Designed by David Oakey, longtime Interface collaborator and world leader in sustainable design practices, the Human Nature carpet tiles feature patterns that are inspired by a variety of natural textures, from tumbled pebbles to freshly cut grass whilst offering smooth transitions to surfaces that mimic hard surfaces, such as polished stone.

Karen Warner, marketing director UK and Ireland, said: “Our Human Nature collection is inspired by the global trend of biophilia and provides designers with the foundation to create designs that promote wellbeing. It’s great to be recognised for our work and we hope our inclusion in the shortlist will encourage people to further explore the concept of biophilic design.”

SBID has firmly established this annual occasion as one of the most prestigious recognitions of design excellence in the interior design industry. With a 15% increase in entries from over 30 countries across the globe, SBID President, Vanessa Brady OBE said: Quality projects from around the world at every scale and price-point continue to represent our ethos; that design is a discipline that requires training, trading standards, a shared financial conduct and unity, then it truly is celebrated… SBID are incessantly dedicated to acknowledging excellence at every level and our awards serve as the finest way to celebrate this commitment’.
