Sited in north Cotswolds, Hyll is a 26-bedroom boutique hotel located in a restored Grade II listed 17^th century manor house set within a 60-acre estate.

For this project Select Interiors undertook a complete refurbishment over a 14-week programme which included the entrance, reception, a restaurant, lounge, drawing room, bar, cloakroom, office communal areas and eight ensuite bedrooms.

A subtle combination of high-quality finishes including, marble, smoked oak, stone, wool, cottons and linen have been combined to make a space for guests to relax and unwind in. The luxury materials juxtaposed against the warm tones of the Cotswold stone exterior and internal architectural elements, fireplaces and structure look stylish and understated.

The scope of the fit-out work for Select Interiors included structural damp-proofing, structural works, dry lining, plaster finishes, plumbing/mechanical, electrical, data, bespoke lighting, decoration, bespoke workshop/fabrication and site joinery, marble and ceramic wall and floor tiling, decoration, bespoke glazed shower screens and graphics/signage.

Select Interiors also undertook the creation of many bespoke joinery elements for the project. This included intricate items such as solid wood drinks fridges, bedside tables and headboards with the client requesting a specific look to these items.

The hotel interior design works were completed to a tight schedule, with the team at Select Interiors liaising with Listed Building ensuring that the works were carried out to Grade II Listed specification.

The Hyll Project: Breathing New Life into Heritage

One of their most poetic endeavours to date is the complete transformation of Hyll—a 26-bedroom Grade II Country House boutique hotel nestled in the rolling Cotswold landscape of Chipping Camden. The17th-century Grade II listed Manor, nestled in a 60-acre estate with mature trees and gardens complete with folly and heli pad

The refurbishment was completed over a 14-week programme, the team reimagined every corner: entrance, reception, restaurant, lounge, drawing room, bar, cloakroom, office space, and eight ensuite bedrooms. The result? A symphony of textures and tones—marble, smoked oak, wool, cotton, linen—all blended subtly against a backdrop of the honeyed warmth of Cotswold stone and original architectural features. It’s an atmosphere where guests don’t merely stay, they surrender to tranquillity and absorb the landscape, setting and hospitality in an environment steeped in history

Their remit stretched far beyond décor. From damp-proofing, structural works, plumbing, electrics, data, lighting, sanitaryware, marble tiles and mosaics, signage, and bespoke glazed shower screens, decoration, smoked Oak timber floors, wool mix carpets, stair runners and soft furnishings, curtains & blinds. The Select Creator’s joinery workshop brought to life elegant burr Walnut drinks fridges, custom bedside tables, and headboards, all tailored to the client’s vision.

Navigating the complex terrain of Listed Building Regulations, Select Interiors worked closely with the Heritage Consultants to ensure every intervention did not compromise the original aesthetic, and honoured the soul of the original construction. Modern methods of damp proofing and treatments were used but carefully concealed by artful craft and traditional methods. Plaster was reinstated following the original slanting internal and external corners, edges were ‘softened’, and surface membranes were covered by screed slurry to enable the decorative smoked Oak flooring to be laid without compromising it’s Listed status
