British manufacturing firm Woodscape has been called upon to design and manufacture innovative street furniture for Europe’s most significant landscape project for a generation.
One year on from London’s triumphant Olympic Games the area is being transformed into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with Phase 1 of the development: The North Park, opening recently to mark the anniversary of the games.
Woodscape, a North-West firm of hardwood street furniture specialists, has designed and manufactured a suite of bespoke timber furniture for the project, in accordance with the LLDC Inclusive Design Standards. These standards require furniture to be of the highest quality, have a clear purpose, contribute to uncluttered spaces and the easy movement of people through the space. Products supplied include slatted picnic tables, special curved seats with backrests and also lounger style seating in a range of sizes to suit the scheme.
Managing Director of Woodscape Richard Nelson said “We’re so incredibly proud to see our outdoor furniture taking pride of place in the newly formed parklands, the space is a great legacy for Britain. As a family-owned business we are delighted to be recognised as a leader in terms of quality products for such high-profile schemes which is testament to our dedication to quality craftsmanship.”
The extensive range of Woodscape street furniture will be installed over the coming months at various sites across the park and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be fully open in Spring 2014 as it is transformed with new community centres, cafes and gardens for all to enjoy.
