ACO Launches Simple yet Versatile Channel Drainage System

Share

ACO has launched a highly effective alternative to the traditional two-part channel and grating system – the MultiDrain Monoblock PD100D. Part of the MultiDrain family, the one-piece system removes any risks associated with dislodged or stolen gratings, thanks to its anti-theft design, as well as being extremely robust, easy to maintain and low cost.

With its class leading hydraulic performance and longevity, Monoblock PD100D has been specifically developed to meet the demands of both contractors and end clients. It is manufactured from Vienite, ACO’s high performance recycled material that is four times stronger than traditional concrete. With an integral Heelguard grating, Monoblock PD100D is certified to BS EN 1433:2002 load class D400, and is suitable for pedestrian, car and HGV applications.

Long-lasting aesthetics and performance are key benefits of this product, as the design ensures that loose or broken gratings are a thing of the past. Monoblock PD100D is particularly suitable for schools, car parks and town centres, where health and safety is an important duty of care. With the need for repairs negated, the product is low maintenance and the inherent properties of Vienite resist decolouration, protecting the long-term appearance of the system.

The lightweight nature of Monoblock PD100D – all channel units weigh less than 25kg – makes it very easy to install and results in a high daily installation rate. For maintenance, access is through lockable rodding access points, sumps and gully units, allowing the system to be simply and efficiently cleaned by standard jetting equipment.

The system’s 0.5m long channel units form the core of the range; these are available in five constant depths from heights of 128mm (ideal where installation depths are restricted) to 353mm (for maximum hydraulic performance). The 100mm wide channels are available as standard in black, typically complementing asphalt pavements, or in natural or grey colour options. For even more flexibility, a number of design configurations including constant depth and step fall, in addition to T and L junctions are available.

“This new addition offers real versatility for our customers,” says Robert King, Product Manager at ACO Water Management. “At ACO, we have really looked at what contractors and end clients need from a product and Monoblock is a great example of how their needs have been met, not only from a quality and strength perspective but also from a design, installation and maintenance viewpoint. This system really does tick all the boxes – and in a cost-effective way.”
