Market demand informs new product launch for Sandtoft
Sandtoft, the roof brand of leading supplier of wall, roof and landscaping innovations, Wienerberger, has announced the launch of its new and improved Cassius tile, after listening to the market and customers alike. Responding to demand, Sandtoft has increased the size of the new tile by 10% – providing a 5% cost saving therefore reducing build cost by 5%.
Designed in collaboration with the UK’s leading contractors and following more than four years of research and development, New Cassius dramatically cuts the cost of a natural roof. Part of Sandtoft’s New Generation range, it is a thin leading edge, interlocking clay tile that recreates the appearance of slate, providing a highly affordable natural roof covering. The large format design and open gauge offer savings in material, labour, weight and completion times.
The Cassius boasts a high performance weatherproof design developed through intensive wind tunnel testing, as well as conforming with all current UK and European standards and fixing requirements. The tile is pressed from natural alluvial Humber clay and the antique slate colour option provides a labour saving natural alternative to slate.
Richard Bishop, Category Marketing Manager for Roof at Wienerberger, commented:
“We have been listening to feedback from our customers since the launch of the original Cassius in 2005 and understand the importance of reducing build costs. It is our responsibility as a leading brand to ensure market and customer demand inform our new product launches but that any new additions are also backed up by rigorous research, testing and development. The new Cassius improves on an already market-leading product and will provide a 5% saving on build costs for specifiers; a benefit that can’t be disputed.”
The new tile will be available from June 2014.
