Farrell & Clark win Best Sustainable Project in LABC Awards

Leeds-based architects Farrell & Clark are back in the limelight with a win in the Best Sustainable Project category at the West Yorkshire LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence Awards for their design of the Sustainable Energy Centre at The University of Bradford.
The University is now leading the way in the UK for sustainable, environmentally efficient development and refurbishments, with a commitment to creating the greenest university estate in the country. Farrell and Clark, who have a reputation for delivering quality architecture in the public and commercial sectors for over 28 years, were appointed by The University of Bradford following their extensive experience of delivering complex campus projects at many of the Northern Universities.
The Building Excellence Awards are all about the essence of good buildings, judged on the “Excellence” shown from a construction and technical building control point of view. The awards showcase buildings and design teams that have had to tussle with technical issues, difficult sites, innovative and creative solutions.
Estate Manager for Engineering and Building Russell Smith and his team at the University of Bradford have been working on this ambitious development for seven years. The Sustainable Energy Centre, now known as the re:centre, is believed to be one of the world’s most sustainable buildings.
The award follows Farrell and Clark’s recent win at the Greenbuild Awards in May, when their refurbishment of University of Bradford’s JB Priestley Library GLEE (Green Library Education and Environment) won the Education Retrofit category.
