GLEEDS’ APPOINTMENT EXTENDED ON MASSIVE MIDDLE EAST DEVELOPMENT

International Management and Construction Consultancy, Gleeds, has recently announced that their appointment as Cost Manager to the Marassi scheme at Sidi Abdel Rahman Bay in Egypt has been extended into 2013. Covering a surface area of roughly 1,544 acres or 6.5 million square meters, the project is one of the largest tourist and residential developments in the Middle East.
Originally commissioned by developer Emaar in 2010, the new arrangement will see Gleeds continuing their role for pre-contract services to May 2013 with post-contract services extending to June 2014 on the scheme, which has so far seen investment in the region of LE22bn ($3.7bn).
The resort will boast a range of luxury hospitality and residential buildings, a conference and exhibition centre and a golf course with associated golf academy. In addition, the development will include one of the largest private yacht marinas in the region featuring a dry storage facility, pedestrian shopping areas and a variety of cafes and restaurants
