Jubilee Gardens, London

Safesite Ltd has installed a bespoke lifeline system on the new public conveniences constructed as part of the Jubilee Gardens renovation along London’s Southbank.

Situated by the iconic London Eye, Jubilee Gardens has been transformed into a spectacular park area in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games.  Part of this redevelopment has included the construction of a striking new public convenience by Healthmatic in conjunction with roofing & cladding specialist Brandclad.

Known as the ‘Jubiloo’ the building features a spectacular golden ship like roof which has also been designed to collect rainwater to help flush the toilets.  As with all roofs, access  is required for maintenance purposes, but as it can be viewed from both the Hungerford Bridge and the London Eye, the choice of roof safety system had to be discreet so as not to detract from its dramatic design.

Safesite’s Horizontal Lifeline system has provided the ideal fall arrest solution. Designed as a continual ‘handsfree’ system, the lifeline enables the operatives to work on the roof safely without having to detach from the fall protection system.   The system’s specially designed golden coating means that it blends in with the roof, providing minimal impact on the aesthetics of the building.

Safesite has a team of qualified engineers and designers who are able to adapt systems to provide a solution to virtually every requirement.  The company remains committed to ensuring that work at height is carried out safely and offers advice regarding compliance with the latest legislation as well as CPD, health & safety and product training.
