Secured By Design Extends Eurocell Bi-Fold Lead

Share

Eurocell is continuing to push the boundaries of design and performance in the bi-fold door category with the announcement that its Aspect system has achieved Secured by Design status, hot on the heels of BBA certification.

This is the latest accolade for the successful Aspect bi-fold door, which recently became, and remains, the first and only system of its kind to gain British Board of Agrément (BBA) approval.

Meeting the requirements of these two important standards means that Aspect bi-fold doors are fully accredited for all new build applications, where Secured by Design is increasingly being specified.

Aspect is an innovative panoramic door system with ultra slim frames that offers over 30 unique features, many of them patented. It is already widely specified in the new build sector and was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Housebuilder Awards 2012 Best Product category.

The Eurocell Aspect bi-fold door system is now listed on the official Secured by Design website at: https://www.securedbydesign.com/companies/, where this specification is currently available through Eurocell-fabricator Nationwide Windows.

Limited availability of Secured by Design specification on a bi-fold door system often meant that housebuilders had to substitute an alternative entrance method, if they required the whole building envelope to meet the standard.

This latest announcement from Eurocell makes the specification widely available from its fabricators and installers throughout the UK, which enables housebuilders to incorporate bi-fold doors into their builds, safe in the knowledge that it meets Secured by Design standards. By choosing Aspect from Eurocell they have the added confidence that the system is BBA certified.

“With more homeowners looking to bring the outside in, we knew that there was a need for a Secured by Design specification on our Aspect bi-fold door system,” said Ian Kernaghan, Product Manager at Eurocell. “Responding to this demand means that Eurocell fabricators now have the ability to offer housebuilders something that they will not be able to find anywhere else in the market – a Secured by Design specification door that has BBA certification.”

To meet the requirements of Secured by Design, Aspect had to be certified to BS PAS 23-1: 1999 General performance requirements for door assemblies – Part 1: Single and Double leaf, external door assemblies to dwellings.

In addition, it had to satisfy PAS 24:2012: Enhanced Security Performance Requirements for Doors and Windows in the UK – External doorsets and windows intended to offer a level of security suitable for domestic use and other buildings exposed to comparable risk (BBA Certificate of Conformity Granted).
