Planet Partitioning: Planet Partitioning, the UK’s largest independently owned partitioning specialist, working in collaboration with Shepherd Construction and AEDAS Architects, were proud to be part of the exciting new build of Holland Park School in London.Planet completed the glass interior package of the highly regarded project including atriums, classrooms, the main entrance and the gym. Products used were, Advanced Frameless Glazing in both single and double glazed configurations. Planet’s unique Vertex joint was used throughout creating a narrow and virtually invisible joint, achieving a seamless finish.
Timber door sets utilised laminated doors, set into Planet’s slim line doorframe, ensuring that both glazed and timber doors all matched throughout the school.
In the walk ways of the school, glass with translucent interlayers were used in the atrium, to give the full effect of natural light while protecting the students and teachers.
The scope of works also included unique angled intermittent Atrium Glazing; this was to complement the form of the building structure.
The new Holland Park Building opened on November 19th 2012 and is a magnificent piece of modern architecture full to the brim with the most up-to-date learning resources for the students. Holland Park School originally opened in 1958 and was one of London’s first comprehensive schools. The building is designed to have no dark areas, to ensure the safeguarding of students.
The New school building was funded by selling off a small piece of land previously housing the school’s gymnasium and used for outdoor play. The sale of the site generated £105 million. This has not only funded Holland Park but will also make a contribution towards the development of other new schools in the borough.
