BM Trada has unveiled the dates for two regional seminars aimed at architects and engineers as part of its recently-awarded CPD (Continuing Professional Development) contract for the UK’s wood promotion campaign, Wood for Good.

The first of these events, aimed at architects, takes place on November 4th at The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, London. A second event, designed for architects and engineers, takes place on November 20th at the Holiday Inn, Bristol.

Both events are half-day sessions, covering topics such as modern methods of construction using British timber, timber’s role in sustainable building and an overview of EC5.

The seminars are part of a fresh new package of CPD training designed for architects, engineers, insurers and local authorities, and delivered by BM Trada’s Technical Consultants. The training will encompass a wide range of timber-related topics, including cladding, connections, Eurocode 5, specification, durability and modern methods of construction.

For the first time, the training will include delivery via webinars, in addition to a series of in-practice events specifically aimed at engineers and architects. To take part, a practice will need to provide a minimum of 30 delegates.

BM Trada’s Technical Consultants will also provide CPD ‘surgeries’ of up to 30 minutes, giving delegates the opportunity to submit technical questions for discussion after the event.

The Wood for Good campaign works on behalf of the whole timber industry in the UK. It aims to promote the suitability and sustainability of wood as a building material to the construction and logistics sectors and associated professionals such as architects and design engineers.

The training will include up-to-date case studies and as well as addressing concerns previously expressed by professionals about the use of wood for specific applications.
