From their earliest beginnings, when the business was set up from the kitchen table of Jim and Sheena’s Suffolk farmhouse, they have remained steadfast in their aim; to be an outstanding British manufacturer of iconic, traditional lighting and home accessories.
To this end, all Jim Lawrence products are designed, assembled, and finished in-house using traditional techniques passed down through the generations. Their Suffolk workshops employ skilled teams of crafters in an array of processes. Everything from laser cutting, spinning, welding, blacksmithing, antiquing, beeswaxing, polishing, painting, shade making – and, thanks to their recent acquisition of artisan glass makers Suffolk Glass, also glass blowing and pressing.
Known for their elegant take on period lighting designs, the best-selling Jim Lawrence Club Wall Light is a prime example of the quality of their manufacturing. Hand forged from solid natural brass that has been lightly antiqued, this wall sconce features a spun shade and a flush fitting backplate. Designed and individually hand crafted, each major component of this product is hand finished in Suffolk using traditional metal working techniques. The Antiqued Brass is created by treating solid, natural brass with an antiquing solution which simply speeds up the tarnishing process to execute this unique finish. Stocking a vast collection of lighting and homeware in a variety of colourways – clients can also enjoy painted finishes and beeswaxing – an artful technique largely unchanged since the Tudor age. This luxurious finish is made by heating a steel product before hand-dipping them into hot natural beeswax, forming a wrought iron effect used across their library of products.
